GenX Chemicals
A replacement PFAS compound (HFPO-DA) developed by Chemours as a supposedly safer alternative to PFOA.
GenX is the trade name for a processing technology using hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid (HFPO-DA), introduced by Chemours (spun off from DuPont) as a replacement for PFOA. However, GenX chemicals have been found to cause similar health effects including liver toxicity and cancer in animal studies. The EPA set an MCL of 10 ppt for HFPO-DA in 2024.
